Things Everyone Who Wears Glasses Experiences

I've worn glasses for more than half of my life now and although I'm basically completely blind without them and need them to see there are many problems and little things that come with wearing glasses. So, I've come up with a list of things that I've experienced in my many years of wearing glasses.

1. Not being able to wear sunglasses in the summer, so you end up either permanently squinting or being completely blinded by the sun.

2. Walking inside when it's cold outside and the warm air making the lenses steam up.

3. Taking a sip from a cup of tea or any hot drink, again, making the lenses steam up.

4. Not being able to lie on your side with glasses on.

5. The hassle of taking contact lenses in and out.

6. They're never clean - you take them off, you clean them, you put them back on and suddenly they're covered in dirt again. It's a never ending cycle so you get fed up and just end up wearing them dirty.

7. When they're properly cleaned and you realise that your eyesight hasn't gotten worse, your glasses were just really dirty.

8. Makeup rubbing off your nose because of them.

9. Losing your glasses and not being able to find them because you need your glasses to see them.

10. When your glasses start to slide down your nose but you're using both hands so you have to find other ways to get them up.

11. Wearing contacts, raising your hand to push your glasses up on your nose and poking yourself before realising you're not wearing glasses.

12. Feeling jealous of people with 20/20 vision - they don't know how lucky they are!

13. Everyone you meet asking 'Can I try on your glasses?'

14. And if you let them it's usually followed by 'Wow you're so blind!'

15. Having to wear 3D glasses over the top of your glasses at the cinema.

16. People asking you how many fingers they're holding up when you're not wearing your glasses, as if you see double or something.

17. Forgetting to take your glasses off before pulling a jumper over your head and getting them squished (this is particularly bad if it's a turtle neck).

18. The struggle of finding a pair of glasses that you like and that also suit you.

19. Dreading optician appointments in case your prescription has gotten worse.

20. The relief of taking contacts out and putting glasses back on.

Have you experienced any of these? Are there any more that I've missed? Let me know in the comments!

  1. This is so so true! After wearing glasses since the age of 7 or so, I can definitely agree with all of these! :) xx
